A short summary in English 

1881 Regnr is a webbased service from Digitale Medier 1881 AS. The service aims to provide the users with enhanced information about a vehicle, based on a search consisting of a Norwegian registration number / license plate number. Vehicle in this sense has a broad understanding: Cars, lorries/trucks, motorbikes, scooters, tractors, caravans, mobile homes/camper vans and trailers. Other motorized vehicles such as boats, airplanes, electric bikes and electric scooters are not part of the service. 

The service is in Norwegian only, but can easily be translated via tools such as Google translate to other languages. 

The service enables the user to search free of charge after general information about a vehicle such as Size and weight, Engine, Performance, Consumption, Gear and wheel drive, Tires and rims. The 1881 Regnr service, furthermore, provides information about periodic roadworthiness test «EU test» (equivalent to MOT test in England), and if the vehicle has any outstanding liens. At a small fee, the user can unveil information about owner and potential sales value of the vehicle in question. Please note that the micro-payment is only available through Vipps. We do not support other means of payment unfortunately.

The source for the vehicle and owner information is Statens Vegvesen (The Norwegian Public Roads Administration), while potential car sales value is delivered from KVD Norge / Bilpriser.se. For outstanding liens related to a vehicle, the source is The Brønnøysund Register Centre. Information regarding wanted/stolen vehicles, is obtained from the Police through The National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos). Regarding the directory information related to the owner’s telephone number, the source is 1881.no.
